Thanksgiving Dinner for Our People
The holiday season can often be a struggle for people battling addiction and homelessness. “Who will I spend time with,” “does anyone care,” “is there any hope?” These are just a few questions that accumulate on the existing questions such as “where will my next meal come from,” “what does today hold,” “will tomorrow come?”
The Thanksgiving dinner service seen several attend who usually do not come. Our team is thankful for gospel opportunity conversations with people that attended. And as always sitting under the preaching of the word.
Meeting with the Seminole County Sheriffs Office
The Seminole county sheriffs office now knows what Freeway is. They are excited and appreciative to what we are bringing to the community. Freeway Sanford will be a potential home plan for men coming out of incarceration that are not under M.A.T. (medically assisted treatment). We are looking forward to the testimonies that will one day be fruit from this meeting.
Freeway Sanford Website
Freeway Sanford now has a website! The link is above this line. This is a simple way to learn more about who we are and our mission. We will soon have a online application form on our website for the men’s house.
House is 90% Furnished
The Men’s discipleship house has received its needed beds, furniture and washer/dryer. Those who have contributed to the furnishing of the house have been a huge blessing. There are still some needed curtains for the bedroom and a needed coffee table.
We are excited to start accepting men into our program on January 12th. This runs parallel to our Freeway Sanford service hard launch on January 12th as well. For those who contributed to the house, you did not “just donate” furnishings to a house. You invested in the eternity of people’s lives.
Preparing for “Share the Warmth”
Blankets, sleeping bags, and socks have been collected for the December 22nd “Share the Warmth” Thursday night service. Often there are moments that come around full circle. And this is one of them.
I recall November of 2020. Mike Simmons, Joe Walters, Paul Choate, and I were going through Freeway World-Headquarters first round of , “The Timothy Project”, their internship. In November of 2020 we were collecting coats, jackets, gloves, etc.… learning how to plan a Freeway outreach event. This one in particular, “Share the Warmth.” Two years later, 900 miles away in Florida, partnered with a different church, reaching new people, I get to put that knowledge to use which I acquired through the internship.
To the person in ministry who is going through an internship or just getting started. Keep it up, God is preparing you for something you have not seen yet.
